Around thirty notes make up Boucheron Perfume, and every one of them stays audible if you wait long enough, marigold, orange, tangerine, bitter orange, apricot, basil, asafoetida, cassia, lemon and bergamot arriving first in a dense burst of citrus and green bitterness. Tuberose, ylang ylang, orange blossom, jasmine, narcissus, geranium, orris root, cedar, Lydia broom and lily of the valley crowd the core with old school floralcy. Amber, civet, sandalwood, benzoin, Indian vanilla, oakmoss, tonka bean and musk take the drydown somewhere warm and faintly animalic. Civet and asafoetida are materials modern perfumery has largely abandoned, and their presence gives this a depth and a strangeness that carries right through to final drydown.
