Where most colognes save their sweetness for the base, Imperial Intense Silver Cologne from Caviar Elixir puts it up top instead, patchouli, vanilla and benzoin opening warm and richly resinous. Saffron, geranium and oud wood build a spiced, woody core with considerable depth. Raspberry and rose close the foundation in an unexpected fruity floral turn, softening everything that came before. Reversing the usual order, sweet resin up top and fruit at the base, is the entire structural idea here, and it keeps the wear decidedly unpredictable. Imperial Intense Silver Cologne is a woody fruity Extrait de Parfum, suited to evening wear and special occasions. Caviar Elixir took a structural risk here, and it pays off completely.
