Four different vanillas will rest in the foundation of the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Gift Set, layered one upon another, though pear, cinnamon and green mandarin lead the top first, bright and spiced, the cinnamon warming the fruit immediately. Jasmine sambac, solar notes and orange blossom build a radiant white floral heart with real luminosity. Madagascar vanilla, Bourbon vanilla, vanilla absolute, vanilla orchid, coffee and patchouli then finish it, each vanilla contributing something the others cannot, one boozy, one creamy, one dark and one green. Layering the same material in four forms alongside coffee is what gives the foundation its extraordinary depth, and it is exactly the kind of thing most houses never attempt in one single composition. Anyone drawn to floral gourmand fragrances will find Black Opium Gift Set, a Gift Set, suits brunch dates and garden parties perfectly. Reach for Black Opium Gift Set again and again without ever tiring of it.
